Russell Lee Brewer, age 52 of Calhoun, passed away Friday April 19th in Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga, following a 4-year-long battle with cancer.
Russell was born July 6, 1966 in Lexington, Tennessee, son of the late Kenneth Ancel Brewer and Dora Jewell Kennedy Brewer. He was employed as a business analyst at TVA. Russell was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where he taught the High School Boys Sunday School Class; he also attended the Elevate Worship service every Sunday with his daughter, Bailey. Russell was a godly man who pointed his family and everyone he encountered to Jesus. He never met a stranger. Russell never missed any of his daughter's games and activities; He was their number one fan. He loved the Tennessee Vols, win or lose. He was a kind and selfless person who would use his birthday money to buy things for his daughters. Russell was always smiling and telling bad dad jokes. He was so strong and brave until the very end of his fight. He loved life, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jackie Margetson Brewer, three daughters, Bailey Brewer, Kristen Matherly with her husband Ryan, and Karina Gross with her husband Vincent. He is also survived by one grandson, Hudson Gross.
A celebration of Russell's life will be conducted Wednesday, April 24th at 11am at Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Williams officiating. Music will be arranged by Jim and Treva Sellers, Montana Etheridge , and Chris Stephens.
Pallbearers include, Ted Barnett, Tony Buchanan, Jose Flores, Elliot Clavino, Stephen Dupree, Jesse Martin and Kris Tibbs.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7pm at the funeral home.
