Ruby Lucinda Atkinson

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 Mrs. Ruby Lucinda “Cindy” Atkinson, age 95 of Calhoun died at 2:12 PM, Sunday, October 14, 2007 in the Heartland Hospice House of Cartersville. She was born in Cherokee County, January 27, 1912, daughter of the late Jackson Wood and Cora Sperin Wood. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher D. Atkinson, a sister, Blanche Beavers, three brothers, Hoyt, Rufus, and T.C. Wood, and three nephews, Carroll and Jack Beavers and Jerry Wood. She held the longest active membership in the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta; was a former member and past president of the Marietta Junior Woman’s Club, a member of the Marietta Garden Club, and a former member of the Marietta P.T. A. She is survived by one son, Chris Atkinson and his wife Amy of Calhoun, three grandsons, Christopher Atkinson, Craig Atkinson, and Jacob Atkinson, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 17 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeff Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery of Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday October 25th. at 3:00 P.M. The Atkinson family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home preceding the funeral service.
