Roy Lyles

Roy Lyles, age 70 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at AdventHealth Gordon.

Roy was born on June 7, 1952 in Helena, AL, son of the late Dewey Roy Lyles, Sr. and Adel Minter Lyles. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Eva Holland Lyles; son, Jason Lyles; and brother, Jimmy Rhodes; two brothers-in-law, Franklin Moore and Glenn Moore. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed by Shaw Industries for over 35 years. Roy was a family man and would take in all kinds of animals.

Roy is survived by: one daughter, Tracie Sloan and her husband Tommy: one son, Travis Lyles and his wife Tina; four grandchildren, Lorna Lyles, Megan Moss, Trena Mayo and Trevor Lyles; five siblings, Becky Moore, Timmy Lyles and his wife Diane, Anna Moore, Roger Lyles and his wife Elaine and Idema Strickland and her husband Howard; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lyles; sister-in-law, Becky Rhodes; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations in memory of Roy be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at St.Jude.org.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 11 AM until 1 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1 PM at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Stacey Hensley and Reverend Timothy Gowens officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving are nephews: Timmy Lyles, Brian Lyles, Jimmy McRee, Robert Strickland, Matt Hendrick, Ritchie Holland and Raymond Holland.
