Roy M. Greeson, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away January 4, 2012 in Morning Point Assisted Living. Roy was born on December 18, 1925 in Gordon County. Son of the late Harlan C. and Emma Mullins Greeson. Roy was a member of the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church and he was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam having retired from the United States Navy where he served over 20 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Payne Greeson. Two brothers; Hubert and Milton "Cotton" Greeson. One sister, Lula Mae Jacks. One nephew, Michael Barden and one niece, Gail Walraven. One sister in law, Joyce B. Greeson and two brothers in laws; Bill and Earl Mincy. Survivors include; One brother; James Greeson. Three sisters; Evelyn Stephens, Mildred Mincey, and Helen Mincey. Two sister-in-laws; Nancy Greeson and Elizabeth Greeson. Ten nieces; Jennifer Massey, Kay Owens, Hilda Chadwick, Jo Ann Pack, Joan Dodd, Jean Johnson, Ann Mashburn, Vivian Reddick, Patsy Craig, and Margret Putnam. Four nephews; Hugh Greeson, Lynn Greeson, W.C. Greeson, and Todd Mincey. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00p.m. on Friday, January 6th from Blackwood Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Connor officiating. Roy will lie in state at the church from 1:00p.m. until the funeral at 2:00p.m. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Pallbearers serving include; Luke Greeson, Terry Bunch, James M. Greeson, Billy Johnson, Billy Joe Greeson, W.C. Greeson, Adam Greeson and Mark Greeson. Honorary pallbearers will include employees of Morning Point Assisted Living. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00p.m. on Thursday, January 5th at the funeral home.
