Roxie Stone Holcomb, age 98 of Calhoun died January 3, 2017 in the Manor House of Rome. Roxie was born in Gordon County, November 10, 1918, a daughter of the late J.E. (Edd) Stone and Mamie Garrett Holcomb. She was also preceded in death by her husband A. Marlin Holcomb. Roxie had lived most of her life in Gordon County and was a member of the Sonoraville Baptist Church. Formerly, she was an active member of the Liberty Homemaker’s Club and loved flower gardening, arts, and crafts. She and her husband, Marlin were owner-operators of “Marlin and Roxie’s House of Beauty for more than 40 years. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Gary and Michelle Holcomb, Arillus and Cindy Holcomb, Noel and Terri Holcomb, Edwill and Sherry Holcomb; and four grandchildren, Alan Holcomb, Brandon Holcomb, Kathleen Holcomb, and Zane Holcomb. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church with Dr. John Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Steve Skates in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving will be sons and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers serving will be the Willing Workers Sunday School class. The family will receive friends Friday, December 6th from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church.
