In loving Memory of Roxanna Barry
Roxanna Barry was born December 6, 1972, and passed away on June 25, age 51 from cancer. She was a wonderful mother, sister, daughter, and much more. Her death has created a huge, gaping hole with her family and friends. She was a registered nurse for more than 20 years, and her nursing ability was unparalleled, working at many different hospitals, including Northeast GA Medical center, Cobb, Grady, Hamilton, Floyd, and Gordon doing anything from ICU and ER work to home health and hospice. It was her selflessness and deep care for others, no matter who they were, that made her such an amazing nurse and person. Her life was an emblem of what it truly means to be a nurse. Every single patient she had, loved her and personally bonded with her. She would even stay in contact with patients just to help them as a friend with anything they needed. She was the best advocate you could possibly have, even standing up to doctors when she knew they were not doing what was best for the patient. Everyone under her care felt safe and secure since her motto was always "patient first". To her, nursing wasn't just a job, it was a way of life.
Her entire existence was devoted to others and never herself. She rarely had any kind of vacation due to this fact. Her ability to connect with others and make friends was unlike any other. Everywhere she went she helped and connected with people, even if it was just a stranger at the supermarket. She was an endless well of energy because of how strong her love and desire to help others was. Nothing could stop her from ministering to a soul in need, not even her own health.
All of these things sprung out of her love for Jesus. Her primary mission was to reach others for Christ through the gospel. She mimicked the ministry of Christ in not simply preaching, as many do who have a false style of Christianity, but in active benevolence to everyone, accompanied by sharing the message of truth, which is what the Biblical gospel is all about. For this reason, so many people relied on her as their strength in times of uncertainty as well as in times of a health crisis. Her work was an ever flowing fountain of life, aid, advice, and encouragement, as well as rebuke and correction where it was warranted, which she always did from a heart of love.
Many people would not be in the good position they are today were it not for the selfless efforts of Roxanna. Many people owe their lives to her, in a literal as well as a spiritual sense. The world has lost one of its best subjects. No one can ever fill the void that she has left behind and replace the support she gave to so many. There is hardly a greater shame or tragedy than for one who did so much to give others life, to lose theirs so soon. She fought hard, and she fought well, not for her own sake, but for the sake of those she knew would suffer from her absence. She never stopped in her mission to help others even up to the day she died. Her memory will always be treasured and placed in high honor within the minds of those who knew her.
She is survived by her only son, Kendall Barry, whom she loved very much. She also leaves behind her mother, Angela Martin, as well as her sisters, Rachel Ayoub and Scarlette Johnson and her brother, Shane Martin.
A celebration of the life of Roxanna will be held at a later date and announced by Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to offset final expenses.
May she rest in peace.
