Ronald Lee Vinson Shepherd

Ronald Lee V. Shepherd, Sr., age 56 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Ronald was born on January 6, 1963 in Gordon County, GA to the late R.V. Shepherd and Louise Hall Shepherd. In addition to his parents, Ronald was also preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Shepherd Thomas. Ronald was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was of the Baptist faith. He worked as a maintenance ranger for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources at the New Echota Historic Site and Chief Vann House. Ronald is survived by: his wife, Martha Balliew Shepherd; son, Ronald Lee V. Shepherd, Jr.; daughter, Christy White and her husband James; five grandchildren, Brittany Fite, Drake Bray, Jeremy Bray, Damien Shepherd, and Richard White; one great-granddaughter, Penellope Fite; and two brothers, Garry Shepherd and Randy Shepherd all of Calhoun. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, April 12th at 4 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Quarrels officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: Drake Bray, Jeremy Bray, Richard White, Isaac Logan, Dylan Bradley, and David Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers are employees and volunteers of the New Echota Historic Site and Chief Vann House.
