Robert C. "Bob" Kirk of Avondale Estates, GA passed away on March 19, 2011 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita Kenemer Kirk; his daughter, Kari Kirk Rheney; his son, Ken Kirk; his granddaughters, Kelsey Rheney, Sarah Kirk, Hannah Kirk; his grandson, Kason Rheney; and sister, Patricia Kirk Lewis of Calhoun, GA. Mr. Kirk was born in Tunnel Hill, GA to the late James and Ruby Kirk, and is also preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Kirk Prickett of Tunnel Hill, GA. He graduated from Dalton High School, class of 1948. He also graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with High Honors and a Master of Science Civil Engineering. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, stationed in West Germany. After 33 years of service, he retired from the GA. Department of Transportation. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 6, Decatur, GA. He was a ham radio operation (N4BAT). He loved woodworking and enjoyed repairing anything mechanical. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24th from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26th at 2:00 pm at Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church, Tunnel Hill, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, Vista Care Hospice, Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church, of the charity of your choice. A. S. Turner & Sons
Burial and committal service will be conducted 3:00p.m. Friday, March 26th at Fain Cemetery with the Rev. Lori Ethrridge officiating.
