Robert Wesley Fowler, Jr., age 76 of Birmingham, Alabama and formerly of Calhoun died at 1:00AM, Sunday, August 2, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Fowler was born, September 16, 1938 in Gordon County, a son of the late Robert Wesley Fowler, Sr. and Lemma Louise Richardson Fowler. Also, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert F. Fowler. He was a retired Veteran, US Air Force with 21 years of service and was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. with 26 years of service. He was a member of the Hunter Street Baptist Church of Hoover, Alabama and a member of the “Stan Richardson Small Group”. Mr. Fowler also was a member of the South Calhoun Baptist Church when he resided here.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Smith Fowler of Birmingham; one daughter, Ginger Tipton of Lexington, South Carolina; one son, Rob Fowler and his wife, Anna of Hoover, Alabama; two sisters, Estelle Towe and her husband, Wayne and Bertie Wilson and her husband, LeRoy of Calhoun; one brother, Kenny Fowler and his wife Jerrie of Calhoun; six grandchildren, Tara Willms, Justin Scarber, Kaula James, Autumn James, Ziven Fowler, and Sasha Fowler; two great grandchildren, Laney Willms and Carter Willms.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian Hinton of Hunter Street Baptist Church officiating. Donnie Nesbitt, Carmen Green, and Ronnie Willms will have charge of music; and burial will be in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Greg Wilson, Kerry Hobgood, Eric Stewart, Shane Smith, Dewayne Smith, Matt Willms, Ziven Fowler, and Jesse Smith; they are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:45PM Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday and from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
