Robert Rhea DeFreese, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his residence.
Robert was born on February 25, 1931 in Gordon County to the late Rhea and Elsie DeFreese. He was a well-known self-employed plumber and electrician, and member of Reeves Baptist Church. Robert also served his country faithfully in the United States Navy.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rogers DeFreese; his brothers and sisters, Betty DeFreese Kirby, Mary Jull, Spud DeFreese, and twins, Alda and Jewell DeFreese.
Robert is survived by his son, David “Skeeter” DeFreese and his wife Joan of Calhoun; daughter, Martha Neighbors and her husband Dewayne Johnson of Lindale; one brother, Billy DeFreese of Florida; nephew, Eddie Rogers; and four grandchildren, Charlie McGinnis and his wife Brandy, Tiffany Loftis and her husband Dustin, Anthony Brake, and Tiffany Goforth also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 5th at 4:30 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Pierson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with Dustin Loftis, Dakota McGinnis, Brison McGinnis, Eddie Rogers, and Chris Rogers serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, prior to the funeral hour from 2 PM until the funeral hour at 4:30 PM.
