Mr. Robert L. “Buck” Darnell, age 86, of Rock Springs and formerly of Calhoun. Died Friday evening at his residence in Rock Spring.
Buck was born in Gordon County August 9, 1922 but had made his home with Jack and Donna Baggett for the last two years. He was the son of the late Mancell Lee and Pearl Graham Darnell. He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church and prior to his retirement was employed at Coronet Carpet. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. One brother and two sisters precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife; Jessie F. Darnell. One daughter; Donna D. Baggett and her husband Jack all of Rock Springs. Two grandsons; Devon and Chris Armstrong. One great-granddaughter; Adelaide Armstrong also survives.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday September 1st at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Tommy Crider officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Gary Bowman in charge of graveside rites. Military honors will be preformed by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.
Pallbearers serving include; Devon Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, Jack Baggett, Jerry Quinn, Jeremy Morehead, and Brandon Williams.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 6 pm Sunday evening.
