Robert L. "Bob" Collins

Mr. Robert L. “Bob” Collins, Jr., age 77 of Calhoun died Saturday morning, February 25 at his residence. Bob was born in Calhoun, June 17, 1934, son of the late, Robert L. Collins, Sr. and Mildred Nied Collins. Also, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Smith Collins February 24, 2002. Bob was a practicing attorney for over 40 years, and had been a member of and attorney for the Child Abuse Counsel for several years.He served as an Lt.Commander in the United States Navy. Bob had served on the City of Calhoun School Board for eight years, and was a Past President of the Calhoun Rotary Club. There, he had over forty years of membership and service.Bob was also active in community affairs. Bob is survived by his wife, Rita David Collins of Calhoun; one son, Robert L. Collins III of Atlanta; one daughter, Katherine Dooley and her husband Donald of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Ted Collins and his wife Ann of Calhoun; one sister, Patricia C. Glasser and her husband Joe of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Benjamin Collins Dooley and Samuel Wright Dooley; special caregivers, Janis Ward, Joan Bailey, Brenda Harris, Linda Winters,Sherry Stansell, Caroline Carter, Brenda Bates, Jeff Smith, and Shane Whitfield. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside of the Collins family lot of Fain Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 27 with Father Louis Tonsmeier officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gordon County Commission on Children and Youth, P.O.
