Richard Inman, Sr., 84, died suddenly on July 1, 2015 of a heart attack while playing golf with friends. Dick was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Inman of Lafayette, Georgia. He attended Lafayette High School and post grad at Castle Heights Military Academy. He was awarded a football scholarship to Georgia Tech where he played on the 1951-1953 National Championship Game. He served in the military stationed in Germany and coached the Army team. He returned to Georgia Tech and coached with his mentor and friend, Coach Bobby Dodd. He coached at Georgia Tech for eleven years as the Defensive coach. He was then called to be the Head Defensive Coach at West Virginia University. After leaving coaching, he worked with the Brown Family of Calhoun as VP at Georgia Tufters and Textiles until he left to join his brother-in-law at Butler Properties as partner. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Butler Inman ,and daughter, Susan (Rick) Holmes and son, Richard E. Inman, Jr. and five grandchildren; Macy Holmes, Cole Holmes, Cade Holmes, Spencer Inman and Graham Inman and a step grandson, Kyle Jardim. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, July 5th at 4 PM from the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Reverend Eddie Herring and Reverend Ed Archer officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 PM at the church prior to the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dick’s honor can be made to the Calhoun First United Methodist Church at 205 East Line Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
