Richard Lee Dean, age 72, of Calhoun. Died Monday morning December 27th in Gordon Hospital.
Richard was born March 28, 1938 in Gordon County. Son of the late John Clayton and Lucille Baggett Dean. He was a member of the Reeves Baptist Church and was a truck driver with Shaw Industries for more than 30 years prior to his retirement. Richard had also served in the Georgia National Guard and along with his wife and was a well respected chicken and cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Delores O'Kelley Dean of Calhoun. His children; Ricky Dean and his wife Rose and Bruce Dean and his wife Lisa all of Dalton, Craig Smith of Atlanta, Scott Smith and Sharon Smith both of Calhoun. Grandchildren; Crystal Goforth and her husband Brian, Kalee Dean, Jonathan Smith and his fiancé Hanna Bryant, Leslie Dean, Jarrod Smith, and Lindsey Dean. Great Grandchildren; Braden Goforth, Brodie Goforth, and Peyton Ramirez.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 29th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Jonathan Smith, Brian Goforth, Christopher Coggins, Brandon Coggins, Jarrod Smith and David Fowler.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8pm.
