Mr. Raymond F. King, one of Gordon Counties most prominent business and community leaders died Monday morning April 7th in Erlanger Hospital. Following injuries sustained in a accident one week ago.
Raymond was born in Bartow County January 18, 1923. Son of the late Clifford Emerson and Bertha Mae Hayes King. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. Raymond was a Mason and member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple. He was the owner of Raymond King Construction Company for more than 40 years. He loved the outdoors and his hobbies included saw milling, gardening, and restoring antique cars. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James King, Edward King, and C.E. King, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Norris King of Calhoun. One son, Ted King and his wife Theresa. One daughter, Ginger Davis. One brother, Clarence King all of Adairsville. Grandchildren, Leah Michelle King, Teddy Michael King, and Will King Davis and step-granddaughters, Sarah and Christina Dobbs.Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 9th at 1PM from the Calhoun First Baptist Church. With Dr. Bert Vaughn and Rev. Donnie Hudgins officiating, the eulogy will be given by Ted King. Music will be provided by Loman Martin, Jerry Martin, Sherry Childs and Sherry Smith. A private burial will be conducted at a later date.
Pallbearers serving include, Will King Davis, Teddy Michael King, Chip Wofford, Joe’l Huskins, Bill Davis, Buck Prather, Phil Urda, and Randy Dobson. Honorary Escorts will include, Jesse Shirley, Neal Holsomback, Merrell Dobbs, Bert Lance, Dr. John Bledsoe, Jack Callahan, Keith Puckett, John Bell, Jack Knight, Edsel Robbins, Dr. Morris Jenkins, David Lance, Bill Wilkey, Wendell Logan, Larry DeFoor, Sanford Chandler, Bill Bailey and Boyd Cochran.
The family request no flowers and those that wish to make contribution may do so to the Friends of the Gem Theatre, Boys and Girls Club of Gordon County, or the Church of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
