Ray Talley, age 76, of Calhoun, died Sunday evening June 17th in Redmond Regional Hospital. Ray was born July 12, 1935 in Gordon County, son of the late Bunk Talley and Bennie Lee Sullivan Talley. He was a lifelong residence of Gordon County and was the former owner of Ray Talley’s Grocery. Ray was also a member of the Calhoun Police Department for more than 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Louise Smith Talley in October 1983 and a sister, Linda Talley Harrelson in March 1996. Survivors include his son, John Talley of Calhoun. A special friend, Linda Roberson Dale and her four children, Shayne Roberson, Miranda Thomas, Marissa Cannon and Trit Newberry, two nieces, Lisa Goble and her husband Brian of Sugar Valley, and Sandra Baldwin and her husband Michael of Fairmount, one nephew, Brian Harrelson and his wife Jamie of Calhoun, one brother in law, Harvey Harrelson of Calhoun, two great-great nephews, Stryder and Wyatt Stanfield, two great-great nieces, Elizabeth Goble and Jessica Stanfield. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday June 20th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with burial to follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Neal Russell, Hoyt Bates, Randy Jackson, Larry Gilbert, Grady Jolly, Jerry Silvers, and Willie Mitchell. Officers and staff of the Calhoun Police Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.
