Ray Nelson Foster

Saturday, May 02, 2009 Mr. Ray Foster, age 91, of the Sugar Valley community. Died Friday May 1st at his residence following several months of declining health. Ray was born in Fannin County, Georgia on February 25, 1918. Son of the late John Baxter and Mamie Margaret Gibson Foster. He enjoyed hunting and was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marine Corp. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myrtle Foster of Sugar Valley. Three children; Thomas Nelson Foster of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Joyce Annette Enich of Holly Hill, FL., and Dorothy Rae Morgan of Ormond Beach, FL.. Four Step-children; Charles King of El Paso, TX., Glenn King of Boynton Beach, FL., Shelvie of Palm Coast, FL., and Gloria Carpenter of Del Ray Beach, FL.. Brothers; James Robert Foster of Ormond Beach, FL. and William A. Foster of Amelia Island, FL.. Sisters; Marie Foster Davenport of Kennesaw, Carole Foster Burger and Patricia Foster Hollenbach both of Ormond Beach, FL.. Eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 4th at 4pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Bobby Causby officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7pm.
