Ralph E. Kirby, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Calhoun Health Care.
Ralph was born on September 14, 1925 in Gadsden, AL. Son of the late Claude W. and Etta Mae Keys Kirby. Ralph was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church, one of the first City of Calhoun Fire Fighters, and was a Mason of the Oothcalooga Lodge #154 F&AM for over 50 years. He also served the United States Army during WWII Battle of the Bulge and earned a Purple Heart and other citations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Elizabeth Moss in 2007.
Survivors include; Two sons; Timothy Kirby of Calhoun and David Kirby and his wife Elizenda of Lynchburg, VA. One daughter, Lesa Kirby of Atlanta, GA. One brother, Bobby Kirby of Gadsden, AL. Two grandchildren; Gillian and Hayden Kirby of Lynchburg, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23rd from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with full military rites afforded by the Dalton American Legion Post 112.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00p.m. on Thursday, December 22nd at the funeral home.
