Polly Stewart Dean, age 88, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday morning April 27th in Gordon Hospital.
Polly was born April 3, 1931 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Marvin C. Stewart and Vera Hall Stewart. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and prior to her retirement was employed as a lab technician with ColorMasters.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dean Sr.; two brothers, Bob Stewart and James “Bun” Stewart; and four sisters, Wylene Brown, Jean Balliew, Dot Reynolds and Marie Bentley.
Survivors include her three sons, Johnny Dean and his wife Connie of Dalton, Jimmy Dean and his wife Mary of Calhoun and Jerry Dean of Calhoun. Seven grandchildren, Nikki Dean and her fiancé Jason Becton, Natalie Duncan and her husband Hank, Jordan Dean, Jamin Dean and his wife Amanda, Mallory Dean, Blake Dean and his wife Karmin and Amanda Dean and her fiancé Joshua Smith. Five great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh Dean, Baileee Smith, Bennett Dean, Austin Duncan and Hezekiah Duncan also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday April 30th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Chaplain Don Jehle and Jamin Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include, Jordan Dean, Jamin Dean, Blake Dean, Hank Duncan, Jason Becton, Austin Duncan, Hezekiah Duncan and Joshua Smith.
The family will receive friends Tuesday April 30th from 1pm until 3pm prior to the funeral.
