Peggy Joyce Autry, age 72, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday July 4th in Gordon Health Care. Peggy was born May 6, 1940 on the Middlebrook’s farm in Covington, Georgia. She would later spend her summers there on the family farm. She was the daughter of the late James Woodrow Middlebrooks and Viola McDaniel Middlebrooks. She was a 1958 graduate of Vashti School for Girls in Thomasville. She received her degree from Reinhardt College in 1960 and her post graduate degree from Berry College in 1967. She was a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church. She taught with the Calhoun City School System from 1967 until her retirement in 1997. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her foster parents, Albert and Marion Duncan of Augusta and Macon, Georgia. She is also preceded in death by her sister Mary Brumbley and brothers Joe and Gene Middlebrooks. Peggy is survived by her daughters Deborah Autry and Donna Rinedoller and her husband David Rinedoller; her brother Jimmy Middlebrooks and his wife Barbara Brown all of Calhoun; her sister Martha Chason and her husband Bill of Valdosta; her granddaughter Rebecca Lynn Rinedoller. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 7th at 11AM at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Brother Walter Harris, Reverend Alvin Taylor, and Dr. Bob Hoffman officiating. Music will be arranged by Michelle Taylor. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery. The pallbearers serving will be: Steve Autry, Joe Middlebrooks, Chris Cochran, Dave Rinedoller, Joey Moore and Gregory Thomas. The family will receive friends Saturday morning one hour prior to the funeral at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church.
