Pauline Wable Jones

Pauline Wable Jones passed from this life to her eternal home January 10, 2018. She was born February 28, 1925 to the late Jacob Samuel Wable and Sarinda May Rhodes Wable. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. David B. Jones; her son, Rev. Dr. Michael Jones; her parents; her siblings; Icie Sample, Bessie Howell, Pearl Martin, Wayne Wable, Ethel Mitchell, Howard Wable, Kenneth Wable, Sr., and her twin Paul Wable. Pauline was born in Kingwood, West Virginia. She moved to the Calhoun area with her siblings in her early teens. She graduated from Sonoraville High School. She worked in Detroit as a welder during World War II. She married David Jones and they raised their family together in Calhoun and the Marietta area. She retired from the Gordon County Tax Assessor’s Office at the age of 75. Pauline and David were active members of the Echota Baptist Church and the churches that her husband Rev. David Jones served. Pauline volunteered at Gordon County Hospital as a Pink Lady and remained active in her church and community until she moved near her daughter, Willene in 2014. Pauline is survived by her daughter; Willene (JW) Wallis; son, Bill Jones; daughter-in-law, Melanie Leach Jones. Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kristin) Wallis; Jason (Heather) Wallis; Jodi (Jeff) Adair; Scott Jones; Kevin Jones; Josh (Anna) Jones; Chris (Tiffany) Jones; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Sisters-in-law: Norma Wable; Carmen Bridges; Mittie Broyles; Mary (Bobby) Able; and Carolyn Jones. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday January 13 at 2:30 PM at the Echota Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Davis officiating. The family will be receive friends from 1:00-2:30 before the service. Burial will follow at the Gordon Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
