Pauline (Polly) Davis

Pauline (Polly) Davis, age 92 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Gordon Hospital. Polly was born on March 2, 1924 in Gordon County to the late Arthur Coleman Owens, Sr. and Mae Mealor Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hughdon W. Davis; brothers and sisters, Charles T. Owens, Arthur Owens, Christine Balliew, Dorothy Owens, James Owens and Ernest Owens. Polly was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and for many years sang with the Owens family gospel quartet. Survivors include her son, Reed Davis and his wife Anita of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Charlin Hasty and Reverend Brent Davis and his wife Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Hasty, Savanna Davis, Taya Davis and Cana Davis; brother, Kenneth Owens and his wife Debbie; three sisters, Dimple Darnell and her husband Edward of McDonough, GA, Dolly McEntyre and her husband Gene, and Linda Galloway and her husband Jimmy; and three sisters-in-law, Ms. Charles T. Owens (Geneva Owens), Ms. A.C. Owens (Patsy Owens), Ms. James Owens (Evelyn Owens), and Ms. Ernest Owens (Betty Owens); Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, September 16th at 1 PM at Heritage Baptist Church with Reverend Brent Davis officiating. “One Touch” will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Lester Rampy, Henry Holland, Therell Goswick, Johnny Meadows, Billy Johnson and Randy Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Calhoun City Police Department, Gordon County Sheriff’s Department, nephews, Kenny Fuquea, Terry Balliew, Edward Owens, Coleman Balliew, Robert Owens, Stephen Owens, Mitchell Owens, Thomas Owens, Gary McEntyre, Chad Owens, Brennan Galloway, Dudley Meadows, Jim Lay, Phil Beamer, and her caregivers, Cindy Brookshire, Brenda Jones and Rhonda Ely. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Heritage Baptist Church. Polly will lie in state on Friday at Heritage Baptist Church from 12 PM until the funeral hour at 1 PM.
