Patricia Johnston Nix

Patricia Johnston Nix, age 84, of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Pat was born on January 28, 1939, in Gordon County, GA, daughter of the late Noah “Buck” Johnston and Janice Hendrix Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Everett Nix; grandparents, Samuel and Icy Young Johnston and Robert G. and Willie Boyd Hendrix; two brothers, Robert E. Johnston, Sr. and Kimble Johnston; one sister, Gladys Johnston Brown; two nephews, Larry Johnston and Randy Kim Johnston; daughter-in-law, Amy Smith Nix; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bailey and Ruby McDearis Nix. Pat loved everyone and helping people, especially her church. She worked in the textile industry for a number of years before going to work for the Gordon County Tag Office and later the Building Inspector Office.

Pat is survived by: her son, Scott Nix; granddaughter, Morgan Ann Smith; three nephews, Robert E. “Bobby” Johnston, Jr., William “Billy” Nix and Robert Nix;  two nieces, Sandra Phar and Debra Lynn Brown Bird; and special friends, Ann Shugart, Betty Justice, and Curt and Ellen Snodgrass.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 2 PM until 5 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Isaac Johns and Brother Scott Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Avery Johns in charge of gravesite rites.

Pallbearers serving are Curtis Snodgrass, Andrew Stanley, Clifford Mattos, Keith Puckett, Jordan Smith, and Alex Sisson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Winchester, Mike Young and Steve Bigarow.
