Patricia Ann Patterson Greeson

Patricia Ann Patterson Greeson, age 74, of Resaca, died at Hamilton Medical Center on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Mrs. Greeson was born on October 26, 1941, in Gordon County, Georgia, to Thomas Edward “Ed” Patterson and Ethel Miller Patterson. Patsy graduated from Calhoun High School in 1959. She, along with her husband, Melvin, are the owners of Greeson Insurance Agency in Calhoun. Mrs. Greeson was a member of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents and the Georgia Independent Insurance Agents. She also belonged to the Georgia Insurance Agent’s Alliance, as well as the Trusted Choice Network of Independent Insurance Agents. Patsy Greeson was formerly a member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Calhoun for more than 40 years, singing in the choir and even serving as the choir director for a short while. Greeson was currently a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Calhoun. Whether it was playing the piano or singing, Greeson loved to praise her Lord through her gift of music. Greeson enjoyed water skiing, fishing, boating, spending time visiting family – especially traveling “out west” through the Rocky Mountains. Patsy Greeson was a loving wife to her husband, Melvin, for more than 56 years. Although she never had children of her own, she showed a mother’s love to the many who referred to her as their “Aunt Pat”. Her nieces and nephews adored her and she found great joy in spending quality time with each of them. Whether it be a summer trip to their Houseboat on Lake Allatoona, a swim in the Greeson’s backyard pool, or an adventure to Atlanta for a Hawks game or a shopping trip, there was always much laughter and a great time making lifelong memories. Mrs. Greeson was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edward “Ed” Patterson and Ethel Miller Patterson; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. Robert Hill Patterson and Robbie Freeman Patterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Winnie Greeson, a brother-in-law, Lee Dell Gravitt, and two nephews, Steve Patterson and Kevin Greeson. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Greeson; sister-in-law, Ms. Lee Dell (Patsy) Gravitt; and brother-in-law, Mr. Robert (Elaine) Greeson. She is also survived by five nephews, four nieces, numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as several great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Heritage Baptist Church in Calhoun from 4:00-6:00pm on Friday, June 10, 2016, with the funeral service to follow at 6:00pm with Rev. Brent Davis and Rev. Tommy Crider officiating. Music will be provided by Carman Green and Delores Cox. A private family burial will be on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Chandler Cemetery in Calhoun with Rev. Randy Gravitt in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving include; Terry Patterson, Randy Gravitt, Ryan Gravitt, Gene Greeson, Stanley Shafer, Eddie Greeson and Kyle Shafer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at Heritage Baptist Church of Calhoun. Thomas Funeral Home of Calhoun is in charge of arrangements.
