Pat Baker

Pat Baker, age 89 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at AdventHealth Gordon.

Pat was born on August 1, 1933 in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Arthur Vernon Baker and Nannie Underwood Baker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Blackstock Baker; and a brother, Fred H. Baker. Pat was the former Sheriff of Gordon County from 1973 until 1989. He then continued his law enforcement career with the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training and later served as a Deputy to the Magistrate Judge. Pat was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Pat is survived by: his son, Rex Baker and his wife Terri of Calhoun, GA; daughter, Lydia Land and her husband Dene of Calhoun, GA; three grandchildren, Mikaila Baker, Caty Goss and Jacob Kelsoe and his wife Elizabeth; and four great-grandchildren, Isabella Goss, Sullivan Goss, Olivia Kelsoe and Vera Kelsoe.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Crider and Reverend Richard Webster officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with honors provided by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department.

Gordon County Sheriff’s Department Deputies will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sonoraville Baptist Church Men’s Lunch Club, the Bojangles Men’s Breakfast Club, and the former law enforcement officers that served with Pat.

In addition to flowers donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home or Samaritan’s Purse.
