Ouida Talley Roberts Black

Ouida Talley Roberts Black, age 99.5 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation.

Ouida was born on September 21, 1923 in Calhoun, GA, daughter of the late Lester Talley and Doris Moore Talley. In addition to her parents, Ouida was also preceded in death by her first husband, Freeman Roberts, Sr.; second husband, Butler Black; sister, Betty Sue Talley Vance; and granddaughter, Kim Worley Samson. Ouida was known for her many years in retail in Downtown Calhoun for both Teague’s and Merle Norman. She was a life long member Calhoun First Baptist Church and later in life Belmont Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Elkettes and the Cowbells. The love of Ouida’s life was the farm she shared with her first husband, Freeman Roberts, Sr. She lived life to the fullest even riding a motorcycle at 88 years old for the first time.

Ouida is survived by: one daughter, Sherrie Roberts Stroup; one son, Barry Roberts; two grandchildren, Charlee Worley Pruett and Nikki Roberts Fain and her husband Brannon; five great-grandchildren, Garrett Pruett, Cory Worley, Madeline Murray, Jackson Murray, and Reilly Fain; two great-great-grandchildren, Maverick Pruett and Lincoln Worley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ouida’s life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 12 PM until 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home and services to follow at 2 PM with Reverend Scott Shephard officiating.

Burial will be held immediately after services at Damascus Cemetery.
