Orville L. Hilgeman

Monday, July 02, 2007 Mr. Orville L. Hilgeman, age 83 of 2840 U.S. Highway 41 South, Calhoun, died Sunday July 1st at his residence. Mr. Hilgeman was born in Stendal Indiana, on May 19, 1924 son of the late Millard Carl and Ruby Lillian Pfingston Hilgeman. He had been a resident of Gordon County since 1962. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served 20 years during WWII and Korea. He and his late wife Kitty Carlisle Hilgeman had owned the Royal Inn, Dutch Kitchen, Big 5 and Holiday Restaurants and was formerly employed by Day’s Inn. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son Jerry Wayne White, two sisters; Delores and Shirley and a brother; Bill Hilgeman. Survivors include four sons; Carl Hilgeman and his wife Patricia, and Donny Hilgeman and his wife Sondra all of Calhoun, Kenny White and his wife Riko of San Francisco, Ca. and Larry Hilgeman and his wife Nora of Chicago. Three daughters; Linda Nicholson , Joyce Hyde of Calhoun, and Trudy Gruhlke of Chicago. Seven sisters; Audrey , Betty, Peggy, Loretta, Ruby Mae, Mary Sue, and Beverly. . Nine Grandchildren; Clay Hilgeman, Brian Edwards, Mike Baker, Nathan Nicholson, Shannon Baker, Kristy White, David Coghill, Denise Egan and Jackie White along with a number of great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday July 5th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites accorded by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00.
