Ophelia Edwards Langley, age 81 of Calhoun, entered into her eternal peace on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Redmond Regional Center.
Ophelia was born on October 15, 1933 in Floyd County to the late Thomas and Hattie Hazelwood Edwards. She was a member of the Plainville Church of God Prophecy and was dedicated to instilling the love of God in her children. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Vanessa Padgett Blaylock and brother, Buster Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Freeman “Hop” Langley of Calhoun; son, Ronnie Langley; two daughters, Joan Padgett and her husband Spencer and Laverne Gravitt; four sisters, Katherine Moorehead, Jeanette York and her husband Charles, Lois Redden and her husband Bill and Ruth Boyd; brother, Don Edwards and his wife Denise all of Gordon County; two grandchildren, Michael Gravitt and his wife Melanie and Kim Gaddis and her husband Joe; and three great-grandchildren, Lance West, Koty Gravitt and Aspen Blaylock.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, March 15th at 3:00 PM from the Plainville Church of God Prophecy with Reverend Ronnie Wells and Reverend Jerry Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be nephews, Jeffrey Smith, Shane Self, Tony York, Saul Edwards, Joel Edwards and Todd Rice.
Honorary Escorts will be nephews, Lamar Rice, Randall Rice, Jimmy Rice, Shane Van Dyke and Jerome York.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home and on Sunday until 1:15 PM at which time she will be taken to the church to lie in state from 2 PM until the funeral hour.
