Opel Thomas Brown

Mrs. Opel Brown, age 102 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday May 27th in Gordon Health Care. Mrs. Brown was born February 3, 1910 in Murray County, daughter of the late Will and Emma Burks Thomas. She was a member of the Casey Springs Methodist Church and was employed by O-Jay Mills prior to her retirement. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Brown. Three brothers, V.A. Thomas, Arthur Thomas, and Bill Thomas and two sisters, Syble Amos and Alene Bailey. Survivors include her brother in law, Dugan Brown of Calhoun and a sister in law, Barbara Thomas of Center, Alabama. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday May 30th at 1pm in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steven B. Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11am until 12:30pm at the funeral home.
