Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Mrs. Norma Jean Fox Padgett age 69 of 205 Woodland Drive, Calhoun, went to be with the Lord Monday Feb. 23rd. following declining health for the past several years. Norma Jean was born in Gordon county on April 17, 1939 daughter of the late J.N and Daisy Nell Hughey Fox and had spent her entire lifetime here. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church and was Past Worthy Matron of the Sequoyah Chapter 286 OES. She was a retired nurse and employee of Dr’s Joseph Bishop and Jack Gent. Survivors include her husband Billy Padgett of Calhoun to whom she was married on Nov. 24, 1955, One son and his wife; Kenny and Marie Padgett of Calhoun, one sister; Gail Fox Helms and her husband Gary of Homosassa Springs, Florida, and one grandson Dennis Elmore of Calhoun along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday Feb. 26th. from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Rex Prater, Howard Ralston, C.W.Barrett, Buddy Davis, Mike Shaddix Doug Johnson and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at which time the body will be carried to the Church to lie instate until the funeral hour. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Hughey, Dale Dempsey, Stacy Hughey, and Dr. Joseph Bishop and these gentlemen are asked to meet at the church at 2:45 on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening. In addition to flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Echota Pet Rescue or the First Baptist Church.
