Mr. Nick Whitener, age 49, of Fairmount. Died Monday evening March 30th in Erlanger Medical Center following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Nick was born in Gordon County February 11, 1960. Son of Muril and Evelyn Smith Whitener. Nick had lived in Cincinnati, Bristol, and Sand Mountain before moving back to Gordon County 21 years ago. He was a member of the Sonoraville Baptist Church and was employed at Pine Hall Brick Company. Nick was loved by his friends and was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews. He loved his dogs and riding his motorcycle.
Besides his parents he is survived by his wife; Janet Champion Whitener of Fairmount. Three brothers; Scott Whitener and his wife Jackie of Calhoun, Tim Whitener of Cincinnati, David Whitener and his wife Cricket of Plainville. Two sisters; Kennie West of Sand Mountain and Jessica Leob and her husband Jim of Scottsdale, AZ. Father and Mother in Law; Von and Marcelle Champion of Fairmount. Two sisters and brother in laws; Vonda and Roger Miller,II and Cindy and Tom Seabolt. Special nieces and nephew; Claire Seabolt, Ella Seabolt, Brandon Whitener and Roger Miller III. Along with several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday April 2nd at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Howard Duvall and Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. Carrie French Thompson and Dr. Gina Daniel will have charge of the music.
Pallbearers include; Steve Cantrell, Charlie Poole, Scott, Tim, David, and Jason Whitener. Honorary escorts will be all of his motorcycle friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm.
