Myrtle Irene Bowen Roberson

Mrs. Myrtle Bowen Mulkey Roberson, age 96 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday morning, November 24, 2016 at her residence. Myrtle was born on April 8, 1920 in Gordon County to the late Gordon and Nancy Fuquea Bowen. Myrtle was retired from Echota Cotton Mill after 39 years of service. She also worked 10 years as a hostess with Hardee’s of Calhoun, and later worked with Wendy’s of Resaca as a hostess. Myrtle always greeted her customers with kindness and a smile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Delma Mulkey; second husband, Vernon “Mote” Roberson; son, Jerry Edward Mulkey, November 10, 2014; a granddaughter, Regina Leigh Mulkey, March 5, 2014; brothers, Bernice Bowen, Clarence Bowen, Alton Bowen; sisters, Ruby Kelly, Odell Wilson; and niece, Louise Bowen Perry. She is survived by her son, Larry S. Mulkey and his wife Gloria; daughter-in-law, Judy Mulkey; grandchildren, Terry Mulkey, Susan Hahn and her husband Jay of Resaca, Traci Russell of Calhoun, Cindy Paul and her husband Steve of Calhoun, Tina Mathis and her husband Russell of California, Brooke Holbert and her husband Barry of Canton, GA, Tiffany Plaster and her husband Mark of Niota, TN, Christopher Mulkey and his wife Allison, Cindy Hight and her husband Greg, Mike Boyd and Cheryl Reeves and her husband Tony; great-grandchildren, Brandi Mulkey Grisham and her husband Selby, Brittany Mulkey, Caleb Young, Jacob Young, Trey Paul, Christian Paul, Erin Paul, B J Holbert, Blair Holbert, Jonah Long, Laici Long, Connor Mulkey, Brett Cochran and his wife Robin, Shante Pendley and her husband Kane, Justin Russell, Andrew Jeffords, Zack Jeffords, Ava Mathis, Dylan Plaster and his wife Cara, Cole Plaster, Emily Plaster, Hannah Hight, Jason Underwood Grant Underwood and Morgan Boyd; and great-great-grandchildren, Gage Grisham, Gina Leigh Grisham, Blake Cochran, Aden Cochran, Kaylee Cochran, Cade Russell, Bella Barahas, Asa Pendley, Clara Belle Plaster and Everett Underwood. A very special Thank You to her Caregivers, Edna Young, Barbara Talley, Brenda Moore, Janis Ward and Jeanette Whitfield. The family could not have asked for a more caring and thoughtful group of ladies. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, November 28th at 12 PM from the Calhoun Community Church with Reverend Jerry Rice officiating. Allison Mulkey, Calhoun Community Praise Team and Jerry Rice have charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Rice officiating. Pallbearers serving will be great-grandsons, Brett Cochran, Justin Russell, Andrew Jeffords, Caleb Young, Jacob Young, B J Holbert, Christian Paul and Trey Paul.
