Morgan Coggins, age 85 of Resaca, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his residence.
Morgan was born on March 15, 1934 in Gordon County to the late Herman Coggins and Ollie White Coggins. In addition to his parents, Morgan was also preceded in death by: his wife, Judy Putnam Coggins; and sister, Sue Manley. Morgan was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a member and deacon of Agape Baptist Church. He was retired from Coronet and was a member of the Civil Defense and American Legion of Gordon County. Morgan loved his family and was an avid outdoorsman.
Morgan is survived by: his son, Dale Coggins and his wife Marilyn; two brothers, Gether Coggins and his wife JoAnn, and Lowell Coggins; one sister, Relda Crook all of Resaca; three grandchildren, Brandon Coggins and his wife Adreonna of Calhoun, Chris Coggins and his wife Daphne of Calhoun, and Larry Long and his wife Amy of Resaca; three step-grandchildren, Courtney Glover, Kris Crider, and Savannah Crider; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Coggins and Eden Coggins of Calhoun. Multiple cherished nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 4:30 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Winford Casey officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:30 PM until the service hour at 4:30 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
In addition to flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association at 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE #400, Atlanta, GA 30328.
