Minnie Langston Wood

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 Mrs. Minnie Langston Wood age 93 of 104 Linda Lane, Calhoun, died Tuesday morning November 3rd in the Calhoun Health Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Wood was born in Gordon County on Nov. 28, 1915 a daughter of the late Henry A. and Mable Robertson Langston. She was a charter member of the Maranatha Baptist Church and prior to her retirement was the business manager for Wood Contracting Co. Minnie was the last survivor of 11 children. In addition to her parents and 11 siblings she was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Wood. Survivors include one daughter Gwen Wood Van Kampen of Calhoun and a son and daughter-in-law: Paul and Marie Wood of Calhoun. Three grandchildren; Paula Goble, Wanda Stone, and Sonja Thompson. Six great-grandchildren; April Goble, Allison Holcomb Davis, Trey Goble, Gavin Thompson, Autumn Thompson, and Alaina Thompson. Two great-great- grandchildren; Riley and Ryder Goble. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday November 5th at 2pm at Maranatha Baptist Church. With Rev. Ron Bankson and Rev. Jackie Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Delores Cox and Alaina Thompson will arrange music. Pallbearers serving include; Larry Goble, George Thompson, Ray Stone, Trey Goble, Gavin Thompson, and Andrew Davis.
