Henderson, Mrs. Mina Jo, 91, a resident of 2012 Summit Drive, Prattville, AL and formerly a resident of Columbus, GA for 38 years, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, June 8, having lost her courageous three-year battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1921, in Resaca, GA, to Jeff and Lilla Mae Robertson, she grew up in Calhoun, GA, graduated from Berry High School in Rome, GA, and attended Berry College there. She married Malcolm Richard Henderson in Atlanta, GA on August 26, 1946. Jo loved playing Scrabble, vacationing inside and outside of the USA, attending family reunions and eating butter pecan ice cream. She never met a stranger and made friends quickly. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, quick wit, and love for animals. Leaving to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 66 years, Dr. Malcolm Henderson of Prattville, AL; daughter, Beverly H. Thompson (James) of Milbrook, AL; granddaughter, Melissa Masters (Charles) of Montgomery, AL; grandson, Tony Thompson of Prattville, AL and great-granddaughter, Veronica Masters of Montgomery, AL. Services were held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 3360 Brookside Drive, Millbrook, AL with Dr. Nathan Atwood officiating. Burial was held at Fain Cemetery on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Richard Webster officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to The American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice. Local Arrangements were provided by Thomas Funeral Home.
