Mildred Elizabeth Kirby

Thursday, April 05, 2007 Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Kirby, age 81 of 613 Pisgah Way, Calhoun, Ga., died Wednesday evening in the Gordon Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Kirby was born in Gordon County on Dec. 13, 1925 daughter of the late Robert Knox Moss and Elizabeth Ellis Moss. She was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church. Mildred started her nursing career at Johnson–Hall Hospital with Dr. Wilbur Hall and retired from Gordon Hospital after over 37 years of Nursing. She was active in the Senior Center and devoted her time to her friends and family. Survivors include her husband; Ralph Kirby of Calhoun, two sons; David Kirby and his wife Elizenda of Lynchburg, Va., and Tim Kirby of Calhoun, a daughter; Lesa Kirby of Calhoun, three sisters; Jettie Gilbert of Marietta, Winnie Cantrell of Calhoun and Lennie Powell of Maryville, Tn. Three grandchildren; Gillian Kirby, Hayden Knox Kirby and Ashlee Bullock and special friends; Dana Gooden and Jewel Wright. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday April 7th. from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Gary Moss, Anthony Moss, C.J. Blalock, Gary Riggs, Gary James and Mark Ceravolo and they are asked to meet at the Thomas Funeral Home at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, at which time the body will be carried to the Church to lie instate from 2:00 until the funeral hour. Honorary pallbearers include Roland Brown, Clarence Burger and Nurses that she loved and worked with and are asked to meet at the Church at 2:45 P.M. Saturday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Friday evening.
