Mildred “Bert” Brown, age 79 of Sugar Valley, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Gordon Hospital. Mildred was born on October 8, 1932 in Manchester, KY. Daughterof the late Oddie Shoupe and Mary Elizabeth Farmer Shoupe. She was good Christian woman who served God every day. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and her family was her life. Survivors include; her husband Willis Brown whom she had been married to for over 62 years. Six sons; Lewis Brown and his wife Lou Ann of Calhoun, Jack Brown and his wife Connie of Calhoun, Lester Brown and his wife Brenda of Cumberland, KY, Carlos Brown of Cumberland, KY, John Brown of Calhoun, and David Brown and his wife Caron of Calhoun. Four daughters; Virginia Waycaster and her husband Carl of Calhoun, Linda McKnight of Snellville, GA, Joyce Brown of Calhoun, and Debra Wyatt and her husband Kenny of Cumberland, KY. One brother; Oddie Shoup, Jr. and his wife Stella of Sparta, TN. Three sisters; Jean Pecor and her husband Kenneth of Sparta, TN, Gail Bishop and her husband Wayne of Plainville, and Margaret Gentry. Twenty five grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 29th at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Ritchie Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 28th from 4:00 – 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
