Michael Worley, age 71 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, GA.
Michael was born on December 1, 1948 in Calhoun, GA , son of Geneva Gravitt Worley and the late William Virgil “W.V.” Worley, JR. In addition to his father, Michael is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Squires. Michael was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He also served as a missionary in Liberia, Africa, Tanzania, Africa, Panama, and Mexico. Michael was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement, Michael was an autobody repairman and technician. He was a member of the Cherokee Regional Mustang Club.
In addition to his mother, Geneva Worley, Michael is also survived by: his wife, Claudia Scanlon Worley; three daughters, Sommer Worley Bennett and her husband Brandon, Sayward Worley Fite and her husband Adam, and Samantha Worley Spinks and her husband Chris; step-mother, Inez Worley; sister, Carolyn Squires; and five grandchildren, Declan Bennett, Jillian Bennett, Cora Spinks, Wyatt Spinks, and Jasper Fite.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 27th at 11 AM at Sonoraville Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Skates, Rev. Jether Cochran, and Rev. Jamie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Ray Ballew, Brandon Bennett, Adam Fite, Chris Spinks, Brandon Huetig, and Glen Cleveland. Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Sonoraville Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27th from 9 AM until the funeral hour at 11 AM at Sonoraville Baptist Church.
