Merlene T. Cook, age 74 of Calhoun, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Redmond Regional Hospital Saturday May 2, 2015.
Merlene was born September 20, 1940 on a coal barge in New York City, NY to her parents Roy Edward Thomas and Annie Myrl Duke. She worked for Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA in the maintenance department and was a member of the Lockheed Union Local #709. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Marvin and James Thomas and her daughter Nancy Gayle Hooks.
Survivors include; one daughter, Deborah Lynn Bryan of Calhoun; three sons, Charlie W. Cook of Calhoun, Timothy Cook of Winchester, KY, and Jonathon Cook of Calhoun; one son-in-law, Skip Hooks of Cartersville, GA; one sister, Patricia T. Parker of Madison, GA; four granddaughters, Cynthia Cassidy, Renee Bryan, Elizabeth Schinzer, and Hope Schinzer; one great granddaughter, Gabriella Elizabeth Muniz.
Memorial Services will be conducted on Sunday May 3, 2015 at 4 PM from Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating.
