Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Mr. Melvin Leroy Wingo, age 81 of 322 Whipporwill Lane S.E., Calhoun, died Sunday evening in Gordon Health Care following several months of declining health. Melvin was born in McComb Ill, on Sept. 29,1926 son of the late Ralph William and Bertha Jorden Wingo. He was a Construction foreman where he was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local # 538. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife; Joan Wingo Bushnell and his second wife; Linda Acher Wingo, Four sisters; Evilo, Vera Mae, Darlene and Lorrain, two brothers; Jerry Lee and Donny Wingo and a son Ricky Wingo. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf and was a race fan. Survivors include two daughters; Ardith Scott and her husband Harvey of Caohun and Shannon Marie Wingo of Nashville, Tn., two brothers; Bob Wingo of Seaton, Ill, and Wilbur Wingo of Battlecreek Mi.. sister in law; Carol Wingo of Galesburg, Ill., grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Sherwood, Joshua Mathew Scott and his wife Brittney, Shawn Lee Griffith and his wife Mindy, Michelle LeAnn Parker and her husband Tracy, Jodi L. Wingo and Rusty James Wingo, four great-grandchildren; Yesenia Andrea Scott, Drake Griffith, Johathan Parker, Faith Hope Wingo and Ashley Parker. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
