Dr. Melvin D. Biggs, age 79 of the Resaca community died Saturday, March 4 in Erlanger Hospital.
Dr. Biggs was born in Uba City, California, January 9, 1944 a son of the late, William D. Biggs and the former Miss Virginia Louise Gaddis. Also, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Earl Biggs, Edward Biggs, and William Biggs, and one grandchild Frances Biggs. He had over 14 years of honorable service in the US Navy and was discharged with service connected disabilities. He began his ministries with Concord Baptist Church as an outreach missionary. He later pastored White Graves Baptist church for 12 years.
Dr. Biggs is survived by his wife, Pamela Sue Haehl Biggs of Resaca; one son Mark Douglas Biggs and his wife Jessica of Luthersville, one sister, Dolores Meadows and her husband Larry; three grandchildren Kayla Browning and her husband Anthony, Brittany Nelson and her husband Nick, and Mark Biggs, Jr., and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 10 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral with the Reverend Bruce Beach, Danny Gazaway, and David Maddox officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton.
