Melissa Lanier, age 35 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her residence.
Melissa was born on March 27, 1980 in Burlington County, NJ to Patricia Jean Sporing Miller and the late Douglas C. Miller, Sr. She was a graduate of Gordon Central High School, Class of 1998. Melissa loved Atlanta Braves baseball, and The University of Georgia football. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Lanier; grandmother, Eileen Sporing; and grandfather, George Sporing.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Lanier; son, Paxton Lanier; daughter, Jessica Ann Hammonds all Calhoun; mother, Pat Miller of Panama City Beach, FL; brother, Douglas C, Miller, Jr. and his wife Angie of Covington, and Robert S. Geserick of San Francisco, CA; sister, Trish Monahan and her husband Stephen of Canton; father-in-law, William Lanier and his wife Teresa of Ringgold; mother-in-law, Sarah Lanier of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Thursday, February 11th at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Deacon Bradford Krupa officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
