Max M. McBee

Max M. McBee, age 74 of Calhoun died at 12:30 PM, Saturday, April 2 in Morning Point of Calhoun following a brief illness. Max was born in Gordon County, November 14, 1937, son of the late "Shug" McBee and Pauline Wilbanks McBee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Henderson McBee, a son, Phil McBee, and a brother, Lewis McBee. He was a lifetime resident of Calhoun and had formerly owned McBee's Gulf Station, Motor Aid # 1 on South Wall Street. Also he was a cattle farmer. He was a member of Oothcalooga Masonic Lodge # 154 F.& A.M. and was an avid fan of the Calhoun High School Yellow Jackets. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Max is survived by one son Russell McBee and his wife Patricia McGowan McBee of Dacula; one sister, Elizabeth McBee Baker of Calhoun; two grandsons, Tyler Scott McBee and Conner Tate McBee both of Dacula; a daughter in law, Kim Hartley McBee of Calhoun; foster grandchildren, Lacey and Ashley; cousins, nieces, nephews; and a special friend Emma Roberts. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 9 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM preceding the funeral. The "Red Bud Breakfast Club" will serve as honorary pallbearers. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the "At Peace Hospice" or the "Howard Jones Foundation" for cancer treatment.
