Max Curtis, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away August 28, 2011 in Redmond Medical Center.
Max was born July 5, 1928 in Bartow County, GA. Son of the late Hardy and Ida Rogers Curtis. Max was a member of the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church where he had served as an active Deacon and Sunday school teacher and honored as Deacon Emeritus. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was formerly employed by Southeastern Mills for 35 and one half years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include; his wife, Betty Sue Rogers Curtis of Calhoun, GA; one son, Larry Curtis and wife Angelia of Calhoun, GA; two daughters; Debbie and her husband Allan Toole of Sugar Hill, GA and Linda and her husband Ricky Mashburn of Calhoun, GA; fourteen grandchildren; Jonathan and his wife Chris Curtis, Jannah and her husband Brian Melton, Ian, Kiera, and Kavan Toole, Chris McCormick, Amanda and her husband David Cantrell, Ryan, Hannah, Jason, Adrian, and Jasilyn Mashburn, Reagan and her husband Richard Black and Josh and his wife Heather Mashburn. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31 at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Connor officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwood Springs Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Neal in charge of graveside rites.
Max will be taken to the church Wednesday, August 31 to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 30 from 6:00 - 8:00p.m at the funeral home.
