Max Penn Autry, age 71, former resident of the Plainville Community died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Max was born on May 30, 1943 in Gordon County, son of the late Marcus Penn Autry and Artie Grisham Autry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean Autry. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and an alumnus of Calhoun High School Class of 1961. He had been very active in the Plainville Community. He had served on the Plainville City Council, and was a founder of the Plainville Recreation Department. He was the coach of the Championship Pony League Team of 1977; coached Women’s Softball; and Youth Basketball.
He is survived by his son, Scott B. Autry and his wife Sun-Hee of Calhoun; one daughter, Julia N. Autry of Chatsworth; one brother, Steve Autry and his wife Margaret of Rome; a step-daughter, Lisa Flores and her children Marissa and Adam of Gordon County.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, December 15th at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Blackstock officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery near Resaca. Active pallbearers are Dan and Mark Autry, Gene Grisham, Douglas Baker, Terry Grisham, and Paul Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Autry, Marion and Newton Autry, Jimmy and Johnny Grisham, Frank Baker, and Fay Autry. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM Monday. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 P.M. and Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M.
