Mary Jo Parker Woody, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Calhoun Health Care.
Mary Jo was born on December 16, 1925 in Murray County to the late John Robert Parker and Minnie Lenora Junkins Parker. She was a member of College Street Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Woody; sisters, Pauline Silvers, Mildred Silvers, Geneva Silvers, Bessie Abercrombie; brothers, Bobby Parker, Gene Parker, Julian Parker and J. R. Parker; and six grandchildren, Brian Wright, Polly Woody, Marvin Smith, Kim Woody, Janice Smith and Jackie Smith; two great-grandchildren, Colby Miller and Tatum Webb.
She is survived by her children, Helen Watson of Fairmount, Marvin Woody and his wife Jewel of Calhoun, Sandra Rogers and her husband Larry of Calhoun, Randall Woody and his wife Donna of Calhoun, Joan Sumner and her husband Doug of Calhoun, Stanley Woody and his wife Terry of Calhoun, and Mitchell Woody and his wife Sheila of Calhoun; one brother, Herbert Parker of Calhoun; one sister, Dorothy Gallman of Calhoun; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday March 26th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Johnny Parker and Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Tatum in charge of graveside rites. The Parker Family along with Christina Weinzetl will have charge of the music.
Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Roger Davis and Mary Jo’s nephews will serve as honorary escorts.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.
