Mary Gene Williams, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away on January 30, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on December 19, 1942 to the late Gene Nichols and Verdine Avant Nichols. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church and the Mattie Lou Strain Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama and The Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Kraig Williams and her grandmother, Sadie Marie Brewer.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles Williams of Calhoun; one son, Kerry Cannon of Sandy Springs, GA; Kim Williams Battles of White, GA, Allison Williams Davidson and her husband Jack of Keller, TX, Dr. Michele Williams Taylor and her husband Joe of Calhoun, and Carrie Marie Williams Thomas and her husband Ian of Resaca; two brothers, Thomas Brewer and his wife Patsy of Smyrna, GA, and Harry Nichols and his wife Deb of Newberry, FL; nine grandchildren, Kerry Cannon, Jr., Brandi Coker, William Williams, Jr., Andy Williams, Joseph Taylor, Anna Taylor, Luke Davidson, Jackson Davidson, and Emily Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Brysen Coker and Bailey Coker; several niece and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 2nd at 2:00 from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with the Dr. John Barber and Dr. Anthony Lombard officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Chapel Cemetery. Music will be arranged by India Galyean, Jule Medders, and Donnie Nesbitt.
Pallbearers include; Tyler Brewer, Trey Brewer, Bobby Coker, Anthony Johns, Joseph Johns, Justin Johns, Austin Long, and Matthew Williams. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Thomas Funeral Home.
