Mary Ellen McMillan

Mary Ellen Wyatt McMillan, age 71 of Calhoun and formerly of Acworth died at 5:41 PM, Saturday, January 10 in the Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital. Mary Ellen was born, January 15, 1943 in Cartersville, a daughter of the late James Thomas Wyatt and Tinie Siniard Wyatt. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Richard McMillan in 2013; several brothers, Grady, Hugh, James, Clifford, Edward, and Howard; and sisters, Minnie Mae Thomas and Ethel Pratt Seals. Mary Ellen had spent much of her life living the Acworth Community and had worked as a self-employed hairdresser for over 35 years. Recently she had worked in the after school program at the Sonoraville School. She was a Baptist and was attending the Calhoun Community Church with her daughter Dina. She is survived by two daughters, Dina Ellen McMillan of Calhoun and Karen McMillan Cole and her husband Jeffery Cole of Dallas; and one, granddaughter, Chloe Mae Cole of Dallas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved as though they were her own children. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 13 at the White United Methodist Church (near White, Georgia) with the Reverend Jerry Rice officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body of Mrs. McMillan will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church preceding the funeral on Tuesday, and the McMillan family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Mike and Allen McMillan, Billy Hale, Marty Siniard, Shawn Wyatt, Jerome Bowen, Lance Timms, Timothy Bryant, and Paul Bolton. They are asked to meet at the church, Monday at 12:45 PM.
