Mary Allen Lowery, age 83, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday morning, December 30, at her residence. Mary was born in West Virginia, May 20, 1927. Daughter of the late John Allen and Mary Locke Allen. Mary has been a resident of Gordon County since 1990 and was a member of the South Dalton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lowery, a daughter, Johnny Claudette Aviez, a great-grand daughter, Jayln Martina Gentry, two brothers; Johnny Allen and Claude Allen, and one sister, Sue Pero. Survivors include; three sons; Haney and his wife Mildred Olszyk of Dalton, GA, Abrie and his wife Elizabeth Lowery of Dalton, GA, and Jackie and his wife Pam Lowery of Calhoun, GA. Two daughters; Susan and her husband James Hughes of Calhoun, GA, and Pauline and her husband John Jefferson of Glenn Burnie, MD. Three brothers; James Allen of Plainville, GA, Joe Allen of Kenbridge, VA, Paul Allen of Watkinsville, GA. Three sisters; Rita Carrol of Kenbridge, VA, Audrey Little of Crew, VA, and Iffielee Rossmeissl of Crew, VA. Six grandchildren; Lynne Hopper, Allen Lowery, Gail Miller, Jaclyn Morgan, Meagan Lowery, and James Jefferson. Five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 1 at 11:00a.m. at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ann Mann officiating. The body of Mary Lowery will lie in state from 10:00 to 11:00a.m. Pallbearers include; Zack Walden, Tyler Walden, Cody Blalock, Trent Gulledge, Justin Gulledge, and Tim Burke. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
