Mary Frances Higgins

Mrs. Mary Frances Higgins, age 80 of Calhoun, Ga., passed away on Friday, January 31st, 2025, at her residence. 

Mrs. Higgins was born in Resaca, Ga., on February 10th, 1944, to the late John David Smith and Opal Greeson Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Higgins; son, Len Shadrick; four brothers, Charles, Bobby, Joe, and Rickey Smith; one sister, Betty Smith Mulkey. Prior to her retirement, she dedicated a significant part of her life to her work at Gordon Healthcare. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she loved her fur babies. She loved windchimes and watching her favorite shows on Netflix. She was loved dearly and will be missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Sue Patton and Charlotte Higgins; sons, David Shadrick and his wife Isabel; five grandchildren, Shelley Franks, Mark Stanley Jr., Justin Stanley and his wife Sandee, Shane Patton Sr., and Keisha Swim; seven great grandchildren, Lakelee Stanley, Emberlynn Phipps, Shane Patton Jr., Guage Franks, Matthew Massingill, Skylar Stanley, and Owen Hamilton; one great-great grandchild, Waylon Massingill.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, from Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Shane Patton Sr., Guage Franks, Skylar Stanley, Matthew Massingill, Justin Stanley, Herschel Tilley, and Randy Burchett. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.
